ISEE Verbal Reasoning Practice
Private Tutors Ready to Help

The Verbal Reasoning section of the ISEE is the first of the five branches of the exam. Depending on the grade level, the challenge level varies. It’s one of the critical factors that admissions officers consider when making their admissions decisions. For students preparing for the ISEE, it is vital to get plenty of practice with the types of questions that will be asked on the exam. This can be achieved by seeking out a tutor who can help you specifically focus on your weaknesses and improve your score. Luckily, Aisha’s ISEE Tutors are here to help!
About the
ISEE Verbal Reasoning Section

The Verbal Reasoning (VR) section of the ISEE test is used to evaluate a student’s vocabulary, ability to recognize synonyms, and capability to solve sentence completion puzzles. The question in the tests is entirely multiple-choice. The first half is made up of synonyms, while the second half is made up of sentence completions, which are sentences with one or two blanks and four answer options.
Vocabulary, pace, and not knowing sentence completion-solving procedures are all challenges in the Verbal Reasoning segment. Students benefit from avoiding checking at answer choices until they have thought of their own response in both VR and Reading Comprehension sections. This aids students in avoiding perplexing incorrect answers and gives them the best opportunity to achieve their highest Verbal Reasoning score.
ISEE
Synonym Questions
Synonym questions focus on word recognition because the response must have the same (or similar) meaning to the term presented in the question. In the synonym questions, you’ll be given a term and four answer options, one of which is a synonym for the first word. This question type tests reasoning skills by requiring students to choose the response option that has the closest similar meaning to the term in the question.

ISEE Sentence
Completion Questions
Sentence completion questions assess a person’s ability to understand the meanings of words and how they are used. In the test, a sentence is given with one or two blanks, and the test-taker must fill in the blanks with the correct word (s). The solution should complete the statement in a logical and suitable manner. On the ISEE Lower Level, some of the sentence completion questions may require a phrase as a response rather than just one word.

ISEE Tips
Verbal Reasoning

Our professionals have put together some tips to help you boost your score on the Verbal Reasoning section of the ISEE exam. Be sure to read them carefully and put them into practice!
1. Work on
Your Vocabulary
During preparation for the exam, it’s a good idea to read a lot of material that is at or above your reading level. This will help to expand your vocabulary and improve your understanding of possible questions that might be asked on the test.
2. Keep Track
Of Time
If you’re stuck on a question and can’t seem to find the answer, it’s best to move on. You can always come back to it later, but you don’t want to lose too much time on a single question and end up running out of time for the rest of the test.
3. Understand
The Text
Before answering, make sure you fully understand the text. Pay close attention to the blanks in the sentences and try to predict what words might fit into them. This will help you choose the correct answer option more quickly.
4. Stay Calm
And Confident
When you take the test, it’s essential to stay calm and confident. If you feel overwhelmed or frustrated, it will be challenging to focus and perform well. Remember that you’ve prepared for this test, and you know what to expect. Just relax and do your best.

An Approach that Addresses
Your Child’s Specific Needs

Differentiated Instruction is a term used to describe a curriculum tailored to meet each student’s particular requirements. We’re a leader in differentiated Instruction, and we’ve designed our programs to provide each student a unique learning path. This implies that your child’s training will be solely focused on the areas where he or she requires the greatest assistance. This is accomplished in three ways:

One on One
Tutoring
A private ISEE instructor can concentrate on your child’s individual strengths and weaknesses, moving through academic areas and strategies at their own pace. Our tutor is ideally positioned to detect and fix weak points since one on one tutoring provides a secure setting for your child to ask questions and acknowledge when he or she is confused.

ISEE
Practice Tests
Your child will take an initial Practice ISEE test before meeting with our tutor. This establishes a baseline for the program and provides us with an understanding of your child’s strengths and weaknesses. Your child will take at least 2 more full-length ISEE practice exams during the duration of the program, and our tutor will use the results to assess progress and continue to personalize the curriculum to your child’s individual requirements.

Personalized
Curriculum & Homework
Our ISEE curriculum was created from the ground up with the purpose of providing a program that is tailored to the one-on-one tutoring environment. Similarly, because homework is an integral part of exam preparation, one of our tutor’s prominent roles is to evaluate and offer specific homework. The more you practice, the higher your results will be, especially if that practice is targeted to your child’s immediate academic needs.
Don’t
Miss the Chance

If you want your child’s ISEE scores to soar, our tutoring program is the perfect solution. We have an amazing group of experienced and compassionate teachers who are devoted to helping students get into their dream schools. With us, you can rest assured that your child will be in good hands, getting the most out of his or her tutoring experience.
